Saint Patrick's Day

Today, I learned a game called Left Center Right or LCR. Each person receives four beads. Players take turns rolling the special dice (each is marked with "L", "C", "R" on one side, and a single dot on the other sides). For each "L" or "R", the player must pass one bead to the player to his left or right, respectively.  A "C" means the player has to place a bead in the center bowl.  A dot means that you keep your beads. If a player has fewer than three beads left (including zero) they are still in the game but the number of beads is the number of dice they roll on their turn, rather than rolling all three.  The winner is the last player with a bead left.  They have to roll the dice and get a "C" to win the center bowl and all of the beads.

This was a really fun game and I won one of the times, so I will be bringing home beads for everyone in the class!  Some of the beads that I won glow in the dark, some of them are square, there are even some wooden beads.  Many of my new friends belong to the The Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA) and this is a popular game that they play with their shire.  They like to collect and trade their beads and also use them to make jewelry. Some of their most favored beads include ones shaped like animals, metal ones, and glass ones.  I will tell you more about the shire later, for now I want to check out all of these new beads that I just won!
